Dan is one of those local guys here in Milwaukee that you see him coming from a mile away because of his bright car, extremely low ride height, and impressively large beard. As part of the Function:Error crew, Dan is one of the very few non-Subaru cars in the crowd but one of my personal favorites. He recently converted his car from being one of the lowest rolling static cars to an even lower rolling bagged car with the help of Lower Standards’ very own Jason and Chubs doing the install. If you’re rolling through Milwaukee, keep an eye out for the bagged taxi. Dan is one of the nicest guys I know and he would love to give you a hug if you see him in person. (more…)

Quality Counts

When first receiving the invitation to the 1st ever Quality Counts Pop-up meet I was expecting a modest turnout, dominated mostly by Subaru. Lower Standards rolled into the show fashionably late, scraping underbody up 4 stories of the parking structure. The turnout was impressive with a good mix of JDM, euro, and even American cars. OEMeticulous Plus – Matt Christensen’s Cabriolet

As trends come and go in the Volkswagen scene, one style has seemed to not only hold it’s own, but taken off in popularity over the last few years.  OEM Plus is arguably one of the cleanest styles in the import car scene. Maybe it’s the subtlety of the modifications that make one do a double take.  Maybe it’s the intricately well planned simplicity of creating a modified “version” of what Volkswagen would have produced if they churned out factory modified cars from Wolfsburg or Puebla.
